1. About these terms

These terms apply when you use the Patorana app and website, provided by Terrigence Labs TODO: registered legal name and address ("we", "us"). By using Patorana you agree to them. If you use Patorana through the App Store, Apple's standard terms for licensed apps also apply; Apple is not responsible for Patorana or for supporting it.

Patorana is currently a beta distributed through TestFlight. Features may change, break or be removed, and data may need to be reset. Please keep anything important somewhere else as well.

2. Travel information — please read

We check the places, fees, rates and conditions in Patorana and show where each fact came from and when it was last verified. Even so, information can be out of date or wrong. Road conditions, wildlife sightings, prices, opening hours and safety information change quickly.
Always confirm important details with official sources — for example the park authority — and follow park rules, rangers' instructions and the law.
Cost estimates and exchange rates are estimates, not quotes or offers.
Community reports and stories are written by other travellers and are their views, not ours.
Patorana is a planning aid. You are responsible for your own decisions and safety while travelling.

3. Accounts

You do not need an account to browse, plan or keep a journal. An account lets you sync your own data between devices and publish trip stories.
You must be 18 or over, or have a parent's or guardian's permission, to create an account or publish stories TODO: confirm minimum age (06 §7).
Keep access to your Apple Account or email secure; you are responsible for activity on your Patorana account.
You can delete your account at any time in the app (Settings → Account → Delete account). The privacy policy explains what happens to your data.

4. What you post

"Your content" means trip stories, photos, tips, ratings, reports, sightings and messages you send through Patorana.

You keep ownership of your content. By publishing it in Patorana you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, adapt (for example resize photos) and distribute it in Patorana and its websites, for as long as it is published and for a reasonable time afterwards for backups and moderation records. Private synced data is used only to provide the service to you.
You must have the right to post your content — for example, only photos you took or have permission to use — and you must have permission from people who can be identified in it.
Do not post anything that:
- is false or misleading about places, prices or conditions, or is advertising or spam;
- is abusive, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, violent or threatening;
- shares someone's personal information without consent, including where they live or stay;
- encourages poaching, disturbing or feeding wildlife, off-road driving where it is forbidden, entering closed areas, or any other illegal or unsafe behaviour;
- reveals the location of sensitive species (for example rhino) — Patorana withholds these automatically;
- promotes excessive drinking or drug use;
- infringes anyone's copyright, trademark or other rights.
We review new stories before they appear and may decline, hide or remove any content, and suspend or close accounts that break these terms, keeping a record of what we did. If you think we got it wrong, contact us (§8).
Use Report on any story to tell us about content that breaks these rules, and Block to hide an author's stories from you straight away.

5. Using Patorana fairly

Do not misuse the service: no attempts to break or overload it, scrape it, get around its limits, access other people's data, or submit automated or fake reports.

6. Our content

Destination information, maps we produce, the app and its design belong to Terrigence Labs or our licensors and are licensed to you for personal, non-commercial use. Map data from Apple Maps and OpenStreetMap is used under their terms; attributions are shown in the app (Settings → Data sources & attributions).

No business can pay to change rankings, trust levels or photos in Patorana. Any sponsored content will be clearly labelled.

7. Liability

Patorana is provided "as is" and, during the beta, free of charge. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses caused by relying on information in the app, by content from other users, or by the app being unavailable. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer. TODO (legal review): wording of the disclaimer and limitation for Kenyan and EU consumer law.

9. Changes and governing law

We may update these terms; we will show the new date at the top and tell you in the app about important changes. These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya TODO (legal review): governing law and courts, and the effect on consumers in other countries.
